Quick Answer
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid is offered in four trims: SEL ($44,160), SEL Premium ($47,520), Limited ($51,990), and Calligraphy ($56,780). All share the 329-hp hybrid powertrain. SEL Premium is the value sweet spot for most Highland-area families. Limited adds Bose audio and dual-panel sunroof. Calligraphy adds Nappa leather, relaxation seats, and a head-up display.

All four trims share the same 329-hp turbocharged 2.5L hybrid powertrain, 6-speed automatic transmission, and full SmartSense active safety suite. Differences are concentrated in seating materials, audio, sunroof, wheel size, and convenience features.

SEL ($44,160): the entry point
The SEL is the only Palisade Hybrid trim that offers 8-passenger seating with a second-row bench. If you have three kids who need to fit across the second row in car seats or boosters, SEL is your only option without going to the gas Palisade lineup.
SEL includes the 329-hp hybrid powertrain, 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, full SmartSense safety, hands-free smart liftgate, and 18-inch wheels. It does NOT include heated seats, ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, Surround View Monitor, or Blind-Spot View Monitor.
Best for: Families needing the 8-passenger bench, or buyers who genuinely don’t care about heated seats in Northwest Indiana winters (rare, but exists).
Skip if: You want heated front seats and a heated steering wheel for our winters. The SEL Premium upgrade is worth it for almost any buyer who plans to keep the vehicle through multiple Highland-area winter seasons.
SEL Premium ($47,520): the value sweet spot
For $3,360 over SEL, you add: heated and ventilated front seats, heated and ventilated second-row seats, heated steering wheel, Surround View Monitor, Blind-Spot View Monitor, power-folding mirrors, second-row captain’s chairs (with the 7-passenger configuration), and additional acoustic glass.
That’s a substantial feature jump for the dollar amount. Heated seats and steering wheel alone add up to roughly $1,200 of value as dealer-installed accessories. Add Surround View and Blind-Spot View Monitor and you’re past the upgrade price.
Best for: The majority of Highland-area families. This is what we recommend most often for buyers who want a long-term vehicle with proper winter equipment.
Skip if: You need 8-passenger bench seating (go SEL), or you want premium audio and the larger sunroof (jump to Limited).
From Our Highland Sales Floor
Of every five Palisade Hybrid customers we walk through the trim ladder at our Highland location, roughly three land on SEL Premium. It hits the price-to-feature ratio that most buyers describe as everything I actually need, nothing I’d never use.
Limited ($51,990): feature-rich without going full luxury
Limited adds another $4,470 over SEL Premium. What you get: 20-inch wheels, leather-trimmed seats (real leather, not H-Tex), heated third-row seats, Bose 14-speaker premium audio, dual-panel sunroof, power-folding third row, and the factory tow hitch installed.
The dual-panel sunroof and Bose audio are real upgrades, not marketing. The dual-panel covers both rows and makes the cabin feel meaningfully more open. The Bose 14-speaker is a measurable improvement over the standard 6-speaker system, with notably better staging and low-end response.
Best for: Buyers who care about audio quality, want the larger sunroof, plan to tow regularly (factory hitch), or want a luxury feel without the Calligraphy price.
Skip if: You don’t care about premium audio or the sunroof, in which case SEL Premium delivers the same daily-use experience for $4,470 less.
Calligraphy ($56,780): the luxury trim
Calligraphy adds $4,790 over Limited and unlocks features that genuinely change the daily ownership experience. The list: 21-inch wheels, Nappa leather (the soft, premium grade), Ergo Motion driver seat with leg cushion extensions, second-row power-adjustable relaxation seats, head-up display, full-display digital rearview mirror, built-in front and rear dashcam, UV-C sterilization compartment, and unique exterior color and trim options.
Three Calligraphy-exclusive features actually matter for daily use:
- Second-row relaxation seats are powered, recline significantly, and include leg cushion extensions. Game-changer for road trips to Indianapolis or beyond.
- Head-up display projects speed, navigation, and adaptive cruise info onto the windshield. Reduces eye movement on long highway runs.
- Built-in dashcam records continuously with manual and impact-trigger recording. Genuine peace of mind and insurance value.
Best for: Buyers who frequently take long trips with passengers in the second row, value the head-up display, or want the integrated dashcam.
Skip if: You wouldn’t actually use the relaxation seats or HUD. Many buyers think they want Calligraphy and would be equally happy in Limited for nearly $5,000 less.
Which Palisade Hybrid trim is right for you?
- Need 8-passenger seating → SEL (only trim with the bench option)
- Most Highland-area families with two or three kids → SEL Premium (best balance of features to price)
- Want premium audio, dual sunroof, or tow regularly → Limited
- Frequent long-haul road trips with second-row passengers → Calligraphy
- Want the most technology and unique features → Calligraphy
- On a tighter budget but want hybrid efficiency → SEL with winter tires added as a service-center accessory
From Our Highland Showroom
The Calligraphy customers we deliver to are usually buyers stepping out of a Genesis GV70 or Lexus RX who want a third row without sacrificing finish quality. They aren’t usually first-time Hyundai buyers. SEL Premium customers tend to come from Pilots, Highlanders, and the previous-gen Palisade. Match the trim to where you’re coming from, not just where you’d like to be.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Calligraphy worth $4,790 over Limited?
Worth it if you’ll use the second-row relaxation seats, head-up display, and dashcam regularly. Skip if those would be nice-to-haves rather than daily-use features.
Which trim is best for towing?
All four trims tow 4,000 pounds with brakes. Limited and Calligraphy include the factory tow hitch. SEL and SEL Premium can add it as a dealer-installed accessory at our service center. See our full Palisade Hybrid towing guide for details.
Do all trims have AWD?
HTRAC AWD is available on every trim and standard on the Blue SEL Premium configuration. FWD is the standard drivetrain on all four trims.
Why does SEL have lower MPG than expected?
Limited and Calligraphy FWD return 31 city / 32 hwy / 31 combined MPG vs. Blue SEL and SEL Premium FWD at 33 / 35 / 34. The larger wheels and trim weight reduce efficiency slightly.
Which trim has the best resale value?
SEL Premium typically holds resale strongest because of broad appeal. Calligraphy resale is more variable because the luxury-trim buyer pool is smaller in the used market.
